Many industrial processes expel heat or steam with no heat recovery in place.
Over the years, various “reasons” for this waste were given; heat was too cheap
to bother recapturing, the exhaust streams were too dirty which fouled heat
exchangers and no innovative heat recovery systems were “proven”. None of these
reasons are valid today.
