Many industrial processes expel excess energy (e.g., steam, flue gas) with no recovery
in place. Over the years, various reasons for this waste were given – energy was
cheap, the exhaust streams were too dirty (fouled heat exchangers,) and innovative
heat recovery systems were “unproven”. None of this is still true.
